Free climbing in fresh air

Yippiiih. Free climbing without chalk dusty air from climbing center...
Today, I've picked up Martin in front of the climbing center, targeting rock walls under blue sky.
Great to feel the stone under the fingers. My toes need some additional sensitivity again. Never started with so numb ones in the new season. But maybe I've never started at that level before?

a 6b in free climbing can be!
Because the local climbing center has been bulging this evening, Martin and I found a free place between some 4s. I've been really surprised how sophisticated this 6b route is.
From now on this will be my favorite in this range ;-)

Prefer to not buy Arc'teryx clothes

Arc'teryx uses obsolete arguments to apologize to not use recycled materials in their outdoor and alpin products.
Have a look yourself:
http://www.treehugger.com/files/2010/02/arcteryx-unwiling-to-use-recycled-materials.php

There is also a list of alternative manufacturers at the end.

No money left for World Champions in Sport Climbing

I've just read at the website of the local indoor climbing center that the National Cup is canceled. In contrast to the website of the Austrian climbing competition association ÖWK the climbing center (place of event) also posted a statement.
There seems to be some controversy between the officials, state and the managing director of climbing center and chief coach of Tyrol Reinhold Scherer.
The Tivoli climbing center has great walls and routes but the floor area is limited and there is no possibility to expand.
The sanitary installations are intolerable for serious sports. There is one toilet and one shower for women and men. (Of course both have their own.) Every school gym is better equipped.
There seems to be no support to change this situation and provide the top athletes the deserved training center with regeneration area.
In consequence Reini resigns. The Tivoli climbing center won't host official competitions anymore.
